What is the mission of the event?: Mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, psychosis and substance use disorders are shockingly common in the US. Unlike physical conditions, mental health challenges can be difficult to detect, so therefore, those in need of mental health services often don’t get them until it is too late. Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare is providing a FREE Virtual Youth Mental Health First Aid course to prepare our communities with the knowledge and skills to help individuals who are developing mental health problems or are experiencing a mental health crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aiders learn a 5-step action plan that guides them through the process of reaching out, offering appropriate support and connecting individuals with helpful resources when necessary. With the virtual format, participants will be required to do approximately 2 hours of self-paced, online pre-work prior to the virtual session on the class date.
Who should attend this event?: Adults ages 18 and older that interact with youth
