What is the mission of the event?: While military service often fosters resilience in individuals and families, some may experience mental health or substance use challenges. Mental Health First Aid for Veterans focuses on the unique experiences and needs of the military, veteran, and family population. Mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, psychosis and substance use disorders are shockingly common in the US. Unlike physical conditions, mental health challenges can be difficult to detect, so therefore, those in need of mental health services often don’t get them until it is too late. Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare is providing FREE Mental Health First Aid Veterans course to prepare our communities with the knowledge and skills to help military connected individuals and their families who are developing mental health problems or are experiencing a mental health crisis. Mental health first aiders learn a 5-step action plan that guides them through the process of reaching out, offering appropriate support and connecting individuals with helpful resources when necessary.

Who should attend this event?: Adults ages 18 years and older that are military connected or work with the military connected population
